Extreme Environments: Beyond Limits exhibition takes a look at environmental issues through the concept of extremophiles, organisms capable of surviving and thriving in unimaginable conditions. Photographs, videos, computer-generated images and comics take the audience on a journey of resilience, beyond the limits of humanity.

In parallel to the exhibition, a didactic programme of workshops and conferences is offered to promote dialogue between artists, scientists and the intergenerational public.

We are thrilled to announce that a part of the Extreme Environments exhibition-competition project will travel to a new location and will be displayed for an additional 3 weeks at the UNIL campus. 

What to expect? 

- A selection of a dozen scientific art pieces from Swiss and international authors

- AlpWISE Science Corner, offering the public a glimpse into the daily life of researchers working in the Swiss Alps. Alongside general information on what it takes to be a researcher in inaccessible areas and interview recordings with scientists, a logbook can be browsed, documenting with pictures the team’s direct field experience

PROGRAM:

27.10 | 17:00 | Vernissage official exhibition opening with welcome words from the UNIL Dean's Office representative, introduction by Prof. Stuart Lane and presentation of the AlpWISE-Idyst research collaboration and brief presentation of Figure 1.A. association

Followed by an apéritif and flash talks by selected authors.
